Haldimand County Playground Enhancements

Help shape our playgrounds!

A short survey will be open from October 29 to November 12 to collect community input and help shape the final playground designs of seven new playgrounds

Haldimand County is planning to replace the playgrounds at seven parks in 2028, creating opportunities to refresh these spaces and make them more welcoming and inclusive for everyone.

Accessibility will be a key priority in the redevelopment process, with a focus on accessible play features, pathways, seating, and gathering spaces that help people of all ages and abilities enjoy these community parks.

The project will include community engagement opportunities to help inform the design of the new playgrounds and ensure they meet the needs of local residents.

Overview

Playgrounds are important community spaces that support recreation, physical activity, social connection, and childhood development. As several existing playgrounds have reached the end of their lifecycle, Haldimand County is planning upgrades at the following locations:

  • Canfield Park and Playground
  • Caledonia Kinsmen Park
  • Central Park (Dunnville)
  • Dunrobin Park (Caledonia)
  • Grant Kett Park (Hagersville)
  • Scott Park (Caledonia)
  • York Park and Playground

The redevelopment process will focus on creating safe, modern, and accessible playgrounds that serve a wide range of users. Design considerations may include accessible routes, inclusive play equipment, accessible seating areas, sensory play opportunities, and other features that support participation for children and caregivers of varying abilities.

Community feedback will be used to help shape the final playground designs.

Public engagement

Community input will play an important role in the design of the new playgrounds.

Residents, park users, families, and community organizations will have opportunities to provide feedback on proposed playground features and design concepts through various engagement activities such as:

  • Online surveys: Playgrounds for All (Survey open October 29 to November 12)
  • The Accessibility Advisory Committee consultation
  • Public information sessions/Open Houses
  • Stakeholder and community group outreach

Feedback received will help inform the final playground designs and accessibility features incorporated into each park.

Engagement opportunities and project updates will be posted on this page as they become available.
