Age-Friendly Community Action Plan
Help us build a more age-friendly Haldimand.
A short survey will be open from XX to XX to collect community input and help shape shape the development of our Age-Friendly Community Action Plan.
Overview
Thanks to the support of our Seniors Advisory Committee and Haldimand County Council, we are proud to be moving toward becoming an age-friendly community. Over the next several months, staff will be working to develop Haldimand's first Age-Friendly Community Action Plan. Community feedback, experiences and stories will directly shape the Plan's development, and there will be many opportunities to get involved and provide input.
Working with community partners and stakeholders, we want to discover what makes Haldimand a great place to live and grow older and where, together, we can make things even better.
Haldimand County has joined the Ontario Age-Friendly Communities Outreach Program, which connects Haldimand to a network of more than seventy communities across Ontario.
Together, we are following the World Health Organization (WHO) Age-Friendly Communities framework to build an inclusive environment for aging across eight key areas of community life:
- Outdoor spaces and buildings
- Transportation
- Housing
- Social participation
- Respect and social inclusion
- Civic participation and employment
- Communication and information
- Community support and health services
Public engagement
Resident input is key to developing an Age-Friendly Community Action Plan that works well for Haldimand County. There will be several opportunities to get involved and participate in the Plan's development.
Current opportunities
Engagement opportunities will be posted on this page as they become available.
