Candidate Inquiries and Responses

Access questions submitted by candidates and the County's responses, shared to support fairness and transparency throughout the election period.

Running for office can come with many questions. While a wealth of information is available on the Haldimand County website, candidates may need additional details about County services, operations, and programs.

To support fairness and transparency during the election period, relevant candidate questions and County responses will be shared on this page so that all candidates have access to the same information.

Submitting an inquiry

Are you a registered candidate, registered third-party advertiser, or considering running in the municipal election?

If you have a question about Haldimand County services or operations for campaign purposes and cannot find the information on our website, we're here to help.

You can submit your question online by clicking on the button below. Questions and information requests that are considered relevant and appropriate will be answered and posted on this page

Requests for information that is not publicly available cannot be processed through this process. Individuals seeking access to records that are not public may choose to submit a request under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA). Visit our Access to Information page for details.

How the process works

This process helps to:

  • Avoid duplicate requests
  • Make efficient use of staff resources
  • Ensure all candidates, third-party advertisers, and prospective candidates have access to the same information

Responses to relevant and appropriate inquiries will generally be provided and posted on this page within seven calendar days of receiving the request. In some cases, additional time may be required to research or retrieve records. Where applicable, requesters will be advised of any fees associated with their request.

All candidates and registered third-party advertisers will be notified of this process when they file their nomination or registration papers with the Municipal Clerk.
