National AccessAbility Week (NAAW)

Haldimand County is proud to raise the National AccessAbility Week (NAAW) flag and recognize the importance of building inclusive, accessible communities for everyone. National AccessAbility Week is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of people with disabilities, raise awareness about accessibility and inclusion, and reflect on the ongoing work needed to remove barriers in our communities.

As part of this year’s recognition, Haldimand County is also hosting free screenings of the documentary "Silver Screamers" on Thursday, May 28 in Dunnville and Hagersville. This heartwarming film follows a group of seniors who come together to create a horror film of their own, challenging stereotypes about aging while highlighting social inclusion through creativity, humour and community connection. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A with director Sean Cisterna and a Dementia Friendly Communities discussion led by Andy Gibbs from the Alzheimer Society.
