Important Information for Homeowners & Businesses

Project commencement notices containing project details and Haldimand County contacts will be hand delivered to residents within the affected construction area.  Residents are encouraged to check back to this website weekly for project updates.

Parking and Driveway Access

For brief periods during the construction, access to your driveway or property may be unavailable.  Every attempt will be made to notify residents in advance of this disruption.  Residents are requested to park on neighbouring streets where no construction is taking place during these periods of inaccessibility.

Parking and Access for Argyle Street Businesses

During construction, vehicle access to and from your property may be limited to one driveway (if you have multiple accesses) or half your driveway (if only one driveway exists).  The County will work with the contractor to minimize the restrictions for business access and your patience is requested during the duration of the project.

Garbage and Recycling Pick Up

Please continue to place your garbage and recycling out on your usual day in the usual location however please ensure that all items are placed curbside no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of your regularly scheduled pick up.  Arrangements have been made with the waste pick up service providers to pick up all garbage and recyclables within the construction zone first thing in the morning to minimize disruption to the construction activities.

If the garbage truck is unable to reach your house due to construction activities, it is the responsibility of the contractor to move your garbage to a location that can be accessed by the trucks and return your garbage containers to your property.  To ensure that your containers are returned to your property we ask that you write your address on your garbage cans and recycling boxes.

Water Services – Fife, Renfrew and Berwick Streets

As with any project of this nature, there may be some disruptions to water services at times throughout the construction.  You will be given a minimum of 24 hours notice before any scheduled water shut down.

Lawn Irrigation Systems

If you have a lawn irrigation system, we recommend that you disconnect and remove any sprinkler heads within the County’s road allowance.  The County inspector will notify you if your system is affected.

Restoration

The project includes the restoration of the boulevard areas and driveways for all locations that have been impacted by the construction works.

Sidewalks

The project includes removal and replacement of various sidewalks along Argyle and Haddington Streets.  Sidewalk sections will be closed when under construction and residents will be directed to the opposite side of the roadway.  All business will remain open and have access for pedestrians.
