Haldimand County seeking resident feedback about accessible playground features ahead of 2028 replacements
Haldimand County has launched a short online survey to gather input from residents on the types of accessible features they’d like to see at local playgrounds. Feedback is being collected for seven specific playgrounds, all of which are scheduled for replacement or upgrades in 2028.
Collecting feedback early will assist consultants in developing accessible, inclusive playground designs that meet the needs of individual communities.
The seven existing playgrounds that have reached the end of their lifecycle and require upgrades in 2028 include:
- Canfield Park and Playgro
-
Caledonia Kinsmen Park
-
Central Park (Dunnville)
-
Dunrobin Park (Caledonia)
-
Grant Kett Park (Hagersville)
-
Scott Park (Caledonia)
-
York Park and Playground.
The redevelopment process will focus on creating safe, modern, and accessible playgrounds that serve a wide range of users. Design considerations may include accessible routes, inclusive play equipment, accessible seating areas, sensory play opportunities, and other features that support participation for children and caregivers of varying abilities.
Other County Parks Development Projects:
The Village Green in Cayuga, multi-purpose park to be developed on Thorburn St. in Cayuga, former Cayuga Administration Building site, and Dunnville Lions Park Revitalization are separate from these seven playgrounds. Public consultation for the detailed design of Village Green is now underway, while engagement opportunities for these three other parks will be announced in the coming months.
