Spring Trivia

Trivia with a Twist!

Join Haldimand Museums for a fast-paced evening of fun, entertainment featuring pop-culture questions and a delicious dinner featuring lasagna, salad and something sweet for dessert! Open to teams of four people.

  • When: April 16, 2026 - Doors open at 5:15 p.m.; Dinner from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. 
  • Where: Cayuga Legion, 11 Talbot Street North
  • Cost: $30 per person includes dinner and trivia.

Trivia begins promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Summer camps

Registration for summer camps is now open.

Our Discovery Days camps offer a variety of engaging and educational programming for children aged 5 to 12. With a focus on learning and discovery, campers get all the fun of traditional summer camp while gaining knowledge and learning new skills.

All camps run Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with options for before and aftercare.


Programs for schools

Each of our museums offers opportunities for collaboration with local schools to learn more about Haldimand’s history.

Our Town Hall

Students will learn about the founding of Caledonia, stories of early settlement, and explore the development of the community through hands-on activities.

The Heritage Centre offers a variety of programs for both elementary and secondary levels. All programs can be tailored to suit your needs and incorporate the archives and artifacts for a hands-on experience.

Log Cabin & Pioneer Living

Grade level: 3-6

Students will learn how and why people settled in this area, and explore the lifestyles and roles within a pioneer settlement. The field trip will consist of a visit to the Nicholas Log Cabin.

Archivist for a Day

Grade level: 9-12

Students will learn to use their local archives and research tools to conduct their own historical research for school projects.

We also host a Classroom Curator program open to all grade levels (K-12), that asks students to use the archives and artifacts to create exhibits related to your history or social studies curriculum.

School Days Past

The Wilson MacDonald Memorial School Museum offers students a unique look into the past with their School Days Past program.

Students will experience a typical day in a one-room, rural school. Costumes, role-playing, lessons, and games are used to help modern children learn about their heritage and the history of education.

Christmas Roots

Grade level: 1-3

Students will experience a traditional Christmas in Haldimand County. Compare Pioneer to modern celebrations and traditions practiced in Canada.

Black History of Haldimand County

Grade level: 3-10
Learn about Haldimand’s Black History exploring topics like the Underground Railroad and Canfield’s Black community. 

  • Cost:

    • Half-day Program, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 12 p.m. to 2.p.m., $7.50 per student

History and the Environment

Grade level: 6-8
Students will learn how the natural environment shaped the lives of settlers in Haldimand and surrounding communities along the Grand River.

Using Primary Sources for School Projects

Grade level: 4-12
Students explore how to make use of primary sources in the classroom for their projects using resources from Haldimand Museums.

Prominent People of Haldimand County

Grade level: 6-8
Students will examine the lives of prominent figures in Haldimand County.

Family Origins

Grade level: 6-8
Students will learn how to conduct family history research and learn about family origins in Haldimand County.

Women at War

Grade level: 10-11
Utilizing artifacts, the archives, and hands-on learning, students will explore how women’s roles changed with WWI and WWII.

    • Half-day Program, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 12 p.m. to 2.p.m., $7.50 per student

Current exhibits

All museum exhibits are open to the public during regular business hours, free of charge.

Haldimand County Administration Building

The current exhibit celebrates Haldimand County's long history of Garden Parties. Whether among flowers or on a wide grassy lawn, garden parties played an important role in bringing neighbours together and strengthening local ties—something that continues to this day.

The exhibit will be available for viewing from April 2 to June 1, 2026.


Edinburgh Square Heritage & Cultural Centre

The Edinburgh Square Heritage and Cultural Centre will be closed to the public from April 1, 2026, to approximately March 31, 2027, to support a major accessibility and facility renewal project. No public access will be available during this period.

Heritage Centre

Extra! Extra! A History of Haldimand County's Newspapers

For more than a century, local newspapers have been the heartbeat of Haldimand County. Today, these papers are invaluable historical records that allow us to trace family histories, understand local decision-making, and see how global events were experienced here at home. Explore Haldimand County’s newspapers to learn the ongoing story of a community—written by, for, and about the people who lived it.

In partnership with Dunnville Secondary School, this creative exhibit features re-purposed wooden chairs, each transformed into a unique work of art.
