Winners announced for Haldimand Library's 2025 April Poetry Contest

Haldimand County Public Library's 12th Annual April Poetry Contest was a community favourite again this year, with nearly 200 poems submitted by individuals of all ages across Haldimand County. The theme of this year's contest was "family," and participants were asked to express through poetry the importance of family, what family means to them, or a specific aspect of family life, such as love, birth, or loss. 

Primary (Gr. K to 3) winners

  • 1st - Ally Houwer
  • 2nd - Jacob Houwer
  • 3rd - McKye Roberts and Holden Hensen

Junior (Gr. 4 to 6) winners

  • 1st - Gracelyn Polillo
  • 2nd - Finnley Vanderwier
  • 3rd - Addison Carrigan and Madison Machado

Intermediate (Gr. 7 to 10) winners

  • 1st - Eidam Rosalin
  • 2nd - Maddox Vanderwier
  • 3rd - Russell Polillo

Adults (18 and up) winners

  • 1st - Mary (Bonnie) McKinnon
  • 2nd - Deborah Beauchamp
  • 3rd - Odeyne Wodskou
