The Significant Weather Event declared for Haldimand County has ended as of noon today, January 26.
Now that the event declaration has ended, the standard 24‑hour timeline for completing full road and sidewalk cleanup is in effect. Crews have been active throughout the storm and will continue working to ensure all routes are cleared as efficiently as possible. Residents should continue to use caution when travelling outdoors.

Update: Monday, January 26 - 8 a.m.
Crews have been working throughout the night, and road conditions are steadily improving as snow‑clearing operations continue through the established priority route sequence.
At this time, most County facilities are expected to be open and operating as usual:
- Haldimand County Administration Building: Open
- Libraries: Branches open for regular operating hours
- Canborough Waste Management Facility: Open
- Arenas: Open
- Museums: Closed
Curbside waste collection is also expected to continue as usual, but may take longer than usual due to conditions.
We continue to monitor weather and road conditions and will provide updates as needed.
Friday, January 23
In response to Environment Canada’s forecasted snow accumulation, Haldimand County has declared a significant weather event for the entire municipality beginning at 6 a.m. on Sunday, January 25.
Current forecasts indicate more than 25 cm of snow, along with blowing snow and potential whiteout conditions, which are expected to impact travel and municipal services.
During the significant weather event, drivers and residents are advised to use extra caution and to avoid unnecessary travel. While winter parking regulations remain in effect, residents are asked to avoid parking on all municipal roadways during the event to support safe and efficient snow‑clearing operations.
It is not yet known when the weather event will conclude, though it is expected to extend into Monday, January 26. The County will provide updates through its website and social channels as needed.
