Tourism Haldimand launches "Let the Grand Be Your Guide" campaign

Haldimand County is proud to announce the launch of “Let the Grand Be Your Guide,” a new tourism campaign that invites visitors to discover the Grand River and the experiences it inspires. From paddling and fishing to local food, culture, and small-town charm, the campaign showcases how the river serves as a gateway to memorable experiences both on and beyond the water.

The campaign represents a key milestone in implementing the Lower Grand River Visitor Experience Strategy, which was approved by Council in 2025 and identifies the Grand River as a defining asset for tourism development and visitor attraction in Haldimand County. Running throughout the summer, the campaign will be promoted through targeted digital advertising to inspire exploration, encourage visitation, and support local tourism operators.

"The Grand River is the heart of our community, serving as the thread that weaves together our history, our natural beauty, and our local economy," said Lidy Romanuk, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism for Haldimand County. "By building on the strategic vision approved by Council, this campaign invites everyone to discover how the river can guide them to their next favourite memory, whether it’s a first bite of local perch or a peaceful morning on the water."

The "Let the Grand Be Your Guide"  campaign highlights the many ways visitors can experience the Grand River and the communities it connects, including:

  • Outdoor Adventure: From kayaking through Byng Island Conservation Area to exploring over 80 species of fish in the Grand, the river offers endless opportunities for exploration.
  • Hidden Gems and Heritage: Visitors are encouraged to step back in time at Ruthven Park National Historic Site or snap a photo with Muddy, the world’s largest mudcat.
  • Food, Flavours and Local Experiences: Discover local restaurants, farmers' markets, and fresh local flavours that reflect the character of Haldimand County's communities.
  • Riverside Towns: The campaign shines a spotlight on the unique charm of Dunnville, Cayuga, and Caledonia, promoting local downtown shopping and riverside dining.
  • Events Along the River: From the Dunnville Mudcat Festival’s 50th anniversary celebration and other signature community events, the river provides a backdrop for memorable experiences throughout the year.

As part of the campaign, visitors can explore a dedicated campaign page featuring trip ideas, local attractions, outdoor recreation opportunities, events, and hidden gems along the Grand River.

Whether planning a weekend getaway, a day trip, or a new local adventure, visitors are invited to Let the Grand be their Guide.
