Summer registration for Library children's programs opens June 9
Registration for children’s summer programs at the Haldimand County Public Library opens on Monday, June 9, at all branches. The theme for this year’s programs is “Around the World!” with activities encouraging children to explore faraway places, including StoryTimes, crafts, parties, dance, LEGOs and more.
Programs are open to children aged 3 to 12, with in-person registration required. Program dates, times and costs are listed on the Library’s website and available at library branches.
Special entertainment for this year’s around-the-world theme includes a free cultural dance class for children 4 and up, presented by a Dance N’ Culture instructor. Dance N’ Culture specializes in teaching dance workshops celebrating diversity and representation, providing children the opportunity to explore different cultures through movement and celebration. The class will be available at all library branches, with registration required as space is limited.
In addition to programs and entertainers, the Library is offering its free reading clubs for children and teens all summer. The Junior Reading Club is available for children aged 12 and under, and the Teen Reading Club for teens aged 13 to 18. Club participants receive a ballot for every library book they read throughout the summer, with an end-of-season draw for cash and other prizes. Junior Reading Club members can also select an item from the Library’s treasure chest for every 15 books read.
Rounding out the summer activities, the Library is also hosting a summer-long colouring contest, with colouring pages and contest draw dates available at each branch.
