Job Description

Summer Maintenance, Roads Operations

Posting Period: December 12, 2025 – January 30, 2026

Employer Group: CUPE Local 4700 (Haldimand) 

Reporting to: Supervisor, Roads Operations  

Grade: Student 1

Wage Hourly: $17.60

Position Status: Temporary Full-Time (employment expected from May 4 - September 4, 2026)

Work Hours per Week: Up to 40

Location: Cayuga, Dunnville, Oneida, Walpole

Position Summary

The Public Works Operations Department is comprised of four key Divisions. Our mission is to provide the public with facilities and parks services, potable water, disposal of sanitary and solid wastes, road maintenance services, fleet and equipment upkeep. This position will be stationed within the Roads Operations Division, requiring daily outdoor work. This role intends to keep the roads safe, well- maintained and accessible for everyone.  

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

Education

  • Must be enrolled in high school (at minimum) and returning to school on a full-time basis in September.  

Experience

  • No prior experience required, however, any current related experience is considered an asset.  

Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for, but not limited to:

Functional

  • Road Surface Maintenance 
    • Sidewalk inspection/repair, curb and gutter repairs, catch basin repairs/cleaning, hot mix patching, pothole repairs, dust control, granular resurfacing/grading. 
  • Roadside Maintenance 
    • Weed control, grass cutting, debris/litter pickup, tree and brush trimming/removal, sidewalk maintenance, guide rail maintenance, retaining wall maintenance.

Position Requirement(s)

  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License -   Class G or G2 License
