Diamond CNC

write a brief summary What began as a small operation in a garage behind the Clare family home in Ancaster, Ontario, has grown into one of Canada's most innovative woodworking manufacturers.

Founded by Mike and Rob Clare in 2013, Diamond CNC has evolved from a start-up cabinetry operation into a multi-million-dollar business serving customers across North America.

From the beginning, the company embraced automation as a solution to one of manufacturing's biggest challenges: finding and retaining skilled labour. Rather than relying on traditional production methods, Diamond CNC continuously invested in technology, software, and robotics to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and increase production capacity. That commitment reached a major milestone in 2024 when Diamond CNC partnered with CNC Automation to install advanced Nanxing machinery, becoming Canada's first fully automated woodworking facility. The state-of-the-art system enables materials to move through key stages of production with minimal manual handling, significantly increasing productivity while maintaining exceptional quality standards.

Today, operating from its 32,000-square-foot facility in Nanticoke, Ontario, Diamond CNC produces fully assembled cabinetry, closets, doors, and custom wood products for dealers and cabinet shops throughout Canada and the United States. The company's relentless focus on innovation has resulted in industry-leading productivity, with sales per employee far exceeding industry averages. With a connection facilitated by Haldimand County’s Economic Development team, Diamond CNC's growth was further supported through provincial investment, receiving over $1 million through Ontario's Forest Sector Investment and Innovation Program (FSIIP) to implement advanced robotic automation. Despite facing tariff-related order cancellations, Diamond CNC has retained its entire workforce and is actively hiring. The company also supports local workforce development by hosting students for Manufacturing Day, promoting from within, and creating a workplace culture built on long-term relationships, continuous improvement, and a commitment to delivering on its promises.

Diamond CNC's story demonstrates how strategic investment in technology, strong family values, and a willingness to embrace change can drive sustainable growth and create a competitive advantage in an evolving industry. With their belief in automation, entrepreneurship, and continuous improvement, the Clare’s have transformed a small family venture into a recognized global leader in advanced woodworking manufacturing.
