Cafecito House

Brewing Success: How Andres Bonilla Created More Than Just a Coffee Shop

A visit to Cafecito House is about more than just - coffee it's about connection, community, and the realization of dream years in the making.

Located in the heart of Caledonia, Cafecito House has quickly become a gathering place for residents and visitors. The family-owned café was born from a passion for bringing people together and creating meaningful connections over a great cup of coffee.

The inspiration for the business began more than a decade ago while owner Andres Bonilla was working at Tim Hortons. While coffee was part of the job, it was the opportunity to connect with people that left a lasting impression. Around the same time, he began serving a special house coffee to family and friends at home. As guests continued to praise the coffee and encouraged him to open a café of his own, a dream started to take shape.

Years later, after a trip to Calgary and the Rocky Mountains, Andres realized that achieving a dream starts with taking the first step. What followed was two years of operating a home-based coffee business, building relationships throughout the community, and sharing his passion with customers.

Although he moved to Caledonia only a few years ago, the community quickly felt like home. "I didn't choose Caledonia - I think Caledonia chose me," he says.

Drawn to the welcoming atmosphere and growing opportunities within the community, he saw an ideal place to pursue his dream. The encouragement and support of residents, local organizations, and fellow business owners helped transform that vision into reality.

What sets Cafecito House apart is its commitment to giving back. Having experienced firsthand the support that community organizations can provide, the family is passionate about helping others. One of their future goals is to support the Caledonia Food Bank, inspired by their own experience relying on food banks after arriving in Canada.

The café also plans to create a community wall where local businesses, organizations, and residents can share information and connect with one another. It's a simple idea that reflects the business's larger mission: strengthening community through meaningful relationships.

For Cafecito House, success isn't measured solely by growth - it's measured by the relationships built along the way. From its beginnings as a home-based venture to becoming a welcoming destination in Caledonia, Cafecito House continues to demonstrate the power of community, perseverance, and pursuing a dream one step at a time.
