Job Description
Student Assistant, Environmental Operations
Vacancy: 1
Posting Period: December 12, 2025 – February 13, 2026
Employer Group: CUPE Local 4700 (Haldimand)
Reporting to: Supervisor, Water & Wastewater Compliance
Grade: Student 3
Wage Hourly: $23.76
Position Status: Temporary full-time (employment expected from May 4 - August 28, 2026)
Work Hours per Week: Up to 40
Location: Cayuga, ON (Haldimand County Administration Building)

Position Summary
The Environmental Operations Division is responsible for all Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection, Urban Stormwater Collection systems, garbage and diversion within the County, including contract management of the County’s curb side collection and Water and Wastewater Treatment Facilities ensuring compliance and adherence to all MECP Regulations, Industry Standards and Best Practices.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
Education
- Must be enrolled in post-secondary and returning to school on a full-time basis in September.
Experience
- No prior experience required, however, any prior current related experience is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for, but not limited to:
Functional
- Environmental Responsibilities
- Assist with collection and interpretation of various samples taken throughout the County.
- Support Technologists with updating of County’s resource materials.
- Assist Technologists with studies and projects.
- Contribute with updates to County’s asset management system.
- Help in a variety of tasks to ensure compliance with all relevant by-laws, acts, and regulations.

Position Requirement(s)
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License - Class G2 or Equivalent
