Proactive tree maintenance program underway across Haldimand County
Haldimand County is beginning its annual proactive tree maintenance program, with work taking place in multiple areas of the County throughout the season. The program helps keep County-owned trees healthy, reduces safety risks, and ensures trees are maintained on a regular, consistent basis.
The County is divided into seven tree maintenance zones, with each zone inspected by a certified arborist on a seven-year cycle. Trees requiring pruning, removal, or stump cleanup are identified in advance and tracked through our Tree Inventory Map.
This year, all tree maintenance will be completed by Kodiak Tree Services, guided by last year’s inspections.
Residents may notice green paint markings on County-owned trees, which indicate the type of work planned:
- Green dot = Pruning
- Green ‘X’ = Removal
- Green paint on stump = Stump clean-up

Tree maintenance is scheduled using a seven‑year zone cycle, meaning some areas may not be at the maintenance stage yet; if you don’t see your area in this year’s program, check out the Tree Inventory Map to see where your zone falls in the cycle.
