Paramedic Services Week May 18-24
In honour of our Haldimand County paramedics, and paramedics across the province, join us in celebrating Paramedic Services Week 2025. This year’s theme, “We Care. For Everyone.” begins on Sunday May 18th and honours the roughly 11,000 devoted paramedics in Ontario.
Medics serve the community on a daily basis and there are many branches to paramedicine that continue to grow and evolve as the needs of the public change. From health, wellness, and resiliency becoming a key focus for a long career, to changing safety requirements, to continuous educational and training, this year’s theme sheds light on paramedics taking care of various members of the community, but also themselves.
“Paramedics are often the first point of contact in medical emergencies and their ability to deliver life-saving care with compassion is unmatched. This week is about honouring that service and strengthening the connection between paramedic teams and the communities they serve.” said Jason Gallagher, Manager of Emergency Services/Fire Chief for Haldimand County.
Throughout the week we will raise awareness for the career and the various ways in which our paramedics in Haldimand care for everyone. Some examples include Recognition Day, EMS for Children Day, and EMS Remembrance Day. We hope our social media platforms create a space of education and open conversation so that we can better understand the role our paramedics play in emergency services and how best to support them as friends, family members, and members of our communities.
Chief Gallagher stated, “We encourage the public to learn more about when and how to call 9-1-1, the importance of CPR, and the value of community paramedicine programs. Paramedic Services Week is a chance to recognize our team and remind everyone that collaboration saves lives.”
Paramedic Services Week focuses on honouring paramedics and their unwavering dedication and commitment to the welfare of others. By continuing to learn and foster open dialogue, we can continue to build strong and fruitful relationships within the community and encourage healthy and resilient careers for our first responders.
