Haldimand County has received application under the Planning Act for an Official Plan Amendment, Zoning By-law Amendment and Draft Plan to permit a planned community in Caledonia. 

A Public Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 3, at 9:30 a.m. to hear public input, objections or supporting information from interested parties.

The subject lands are legally described as WALPOLE CON 2 PT LOT 18 RP, 18R7621 PART 1

The subject lands are designated “Hamlet” in the Haldimand County Official Plan and are zoned “Rural Institutional (IR)” in the Haldimand County Zoning Bylaw HC 1-2020.

Proposed: There is a concurrent Consent to Sever application to permit the creation of a 759 square-meter Residential lot on the east side of the existing Place of Worship building.

Proposed zoning change: The purpose of the Zoning By-law Amendment is to rezone the lands to “Hamlet Residential (HR)” to permit the existing Place of Worship building to be converted to a Residential Dwelling and to permit the development of the proposed new parcel, if approved, for Residential use.

If you are a property owner within 120 metres of the above, you have the opportunity to express an opinion for or against the application at the Council in Committee meeting, or in writing before the above-noted meeting date. If you require further information, please contact this office Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Planner’s report will be available upon request, on the Haldimand County website, and at the meeting. 

If you wish to be notified of the decision of the Haldimand County Council in Committee in respect of this application, you must submit a written request to Planning & Development or the Clerks Division.

In accordance with Bill 185, Cutting the Red Tape to Build More Homes Act, 2024, third-party appeals are no longer permitted. The right to appeal municipal decisions to the Ontario Land Tribunal is restricted to: the applicant, “public bodies” or “specified persons” who made oral or written submissions to Council before a decision being made, and the Minister. “Public bodies” and “Specified Persons” as defined in the Planning Act include government, utility boards and agencies.
