Ministry of Natural Resources emergency preparedness workshop to be conducted in Selkirk area

The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) is hosting a training workshop for municipalities with the expert consultant, Montrose Environmental (Montrose) in the Selkirk area. The purpose of the workshop is to help municipalities better prepare for and respond to emergencies at oil and gas wells.

The workshop will include conducting surveys with drones and motorized vehicles equipped with gas detectors. Any results collected during the workshop will be used only for training purposes and presented to participants in a way that protects privacy and maintains confidentiality. None of the workshop surveys will collect photographs or recognizable imagery.

The one-day workshop will occur between October 8 and 9 or October 21 and 22, based on weather conditions. Workshop activities will be conducted south of Selkirk between Blue Water Parkway and Erie St. South. During the workshop you may notice multiple drones flying overhead in the indicated area.
