Important notice for municipal water and wastewater customers RE: changes to billing dates and due dates

Currently, water and wastewater bills are issued in four separate cycles based on geographic areas, which requires our contracted meter reading service provider to take readings several times each month. Our water billing provider, Util-Assist, also issues bills at different times of the month for users in different areas of Haldimand.

In an effort to cut down costs and streamline the billing process, Haldimand is bringing meter reading in-house – which will eliminate the $45,000 annual cost of contracting the service and save ratepayer dollars. As a result, the dates that water and wastewater bills are issued and the dates payments are due are changing.

What’s changing:

Starting January 1, 2026, all customers will be moved to one unified billing cycle near the middle of each month. The change will be phased in over the next few months, and residents may notice differing billing periods during the transition.

The total amount billed annually will not change, just the timing of bills. All customers will have the same meter read date, bill date, due date, and tax-roll date in 2026.

Caledonia

Hagersville, Jarvis, Townsend, Walpole, Selkirk

Cayuga, North Cayuga

Dunnville 

Moving forward, your water and wastewater bills will issued mid-month and will continue to be due in 21 calendar days.
