Heat warning in effect for Haldimand July 24 and 25
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Haldimand for July 24 and 25. Please use caution when outdoors and take steps to protect yourself and check in on friends and neighbours who are more susceptible to heat-related illness.
Cooling spaces
- If your living space is hot, move to a cool public space such as an air-conditioned library branch or a shaded park
- Cool off at one of our pools or splash pads
- Limit direct exposure to the sun
- Drink water often
- Close blinds and shades
- Turn on the air conditioning, use fans, or move to a cooler area of the house
- Plan outdoor activities during the coolest part of the day
- Wear lightweight, light-coloured clothing and a hat
Heat-related illness
Watch for the early signs of heat exhaustion in yourself and others and seek medical attention immediately if you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms:
- Headache
- Nausea or vomiting
- Weakness and confusion
- Fainting
- Rapid breathing and heartbeat
