Haldimand County receives Hydro One Community Partnership Grant to enhance flood response

Haldimand County has received $20,500 in funding through Hydro One’s Community Partnership Grant program to purchase a new sandbagging machine, significantly enhancing the County's flood response capabilities. 

The new equipment will strengthen Emergency Services’ ability to support the community during flooding events and help mitigate flood impacts for residents and businesses. 

Once purchased, the sandbagger will be housed in Cayuga and readied for operation. The sandbagger can be easily re-located and in an emergency situation, be moved to areas where the need is greatest.  

"We're grateful to Hydro One for supporting initiatives that enhance community safety and resilience," said Jason Gallagher, Manager of Emergency Services and Fire Chief. "This funding allows us to strengthen our flood response capabilities and lower the potential of major impacts for residents and businesses, without additional costs to taxpayers."
