Haldimand County invites local businesses and property owners to participate in Community Improvement Plan (CIP) Review Survey

Haldimand County is seeking input from local businesses, commercial property owners, and other stakeholders through an online survey as part of a comprehensive review of the Community Improvement Plan (CIP) programs.

The survey will be open from October 28 to November 28 and is available online at surveymonkey.com/r/Haldimand_County_CIP_Update. Printed copies can also be requested at Haldimand County Library branches and the Administration Building in Cayuga.

Feedback gathered through the survey will help shape recommendations for a renewed CIP framework that supports business growth, encourages investment, and strengthens Haldimand’s economy. The review will consider the input received alongside program performance data, economic trends, and industry best practices.

Community Improvement Plans help municipalities encourage investment, support property improvements, and strengthen local communities through targeted financial incentive programs. Haldimand offers two CIP programs: the Downtown Areas CIP and the Rural Business and Tourism CIP. Together, these programs provide financial incentives for eligible projects in historic downtown areas and for value-added agriculture and tourism businesses in rural areas. Incentives may support items such as façade improvements, building code upgrades, permit fees, heritage restoration projects, and downtown housing.

The review project aims to evaluate these grant programs to ensure they remain relevant, effective, and aligned with current economic conditions and local priorities. As part of the review, Haldimand will assess existing grant streams for clarity, consistency, accessibility, and effectiveness, while exploring opportunities to improve participation and better meet the needs of businesses and property owners.

"Stakeholder feedback is critical to ensuring these programs continue to reflect the needs of Haldimand's business community," said Lidy Romanuk, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism. "We encourage local businesses and commercial property owners to share their experiences and ideas as we work to strengthen these programs and support future economic growth."

The review will help ensure Haldimand County’s CIP programs remain accessible, effective and responsive to evolving business and community needs.
