Haldimand County Fire Department Hosting a Fire Prevention Week BBQ and Open House

HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON – Haldimand County Fire Department is inviting residents to join firefighters for a Fire Prevention Week BBQ and Open House on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 1pm to 5pm at Station 9 - Dunnville.

Fire Prevention Week runs from October 4th to 10th this year. The theme, “Charge Into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower,” focuses on helping residents understand how to safely use, charge and store lithium-ion battery-powered devices.

Lithium-ion batteries are found in many everyday items, including phones, tablets, power tools, e-bikes and other rechargeable devices. Residents are encouraged to use the correct charging equipment, follow manufacturer instructions, avoid charging devices on soft surfaces such as beds or couches, and stop using batteries or devices that show signs of damage, overheating, swelling or unusual odours.

The Fire Prevention Week BBQ and Open House will give residents an opportunity to meet some of our firefighters, tour the fire station and apparatus, pick up fire safety information and enjoy free hotdogs. Sparky the Fire Dog will also make special appearances throughout the day.

Event Details:
Date: Friday, October 9, 2026
