Haldimand County By-Election for Wards 1 & 4 set for April 10, 2025
On April 10, 2025 eligible voters in Wards 1 & 4 will select who they want to represent them on Haldimand County Council for the remainder of the 2022-2026 Term.
Eligible voters will be able to cast their ballot online, or in person at advance polls and on voting day. Residents of Wards 1 & 4 are encouraged to visit www.registertovoteon.ca in advance to ensure they are on the voters list.
Residents of Ward 1 and Ward 4 who are on the voters list will receive a Voter Notification Letter through Canada Post in mid to late March.
Nomination period – closes Monday, February 24, 2025 at 2 p.m.
- Nominations are currently being accepted for candidates who wish to run for office in Ward 1 & Ward 4.
- Nominations will be accepted until February 24, 2025 at 2 p.m.
- Nomination papers are available at www.haldimandvotes.ca and must be filed in-person by appointment only. To make an appointment to file, contact the Clerk’s office or e-mail election@haldimandcounty.on.ca.
Advance internet voting – Monday, March 31, 2025 to Wednesday, April 9, 2025
- Internet voting will be offered for advance voting only beginning Monday, March 31, 2025 and concluding on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
- To vote online, residents will need to have their Voter Identification Number and PIN provided in their Voter Notification Letter. A link to the online voting portal will be available at www.haldimandvotes.ca.
- Eligible voters are encouraged to vote online well in advance of the April 9 deadline. Eligible voters who require assistance voting online may call 905-318-5932, e-mail election@haldimandcounty.on.ca, or go to any of our Haldimand County Public Library locations
Advance in-person voting – Tuesday, April 1, 2025 to Saturday, April 5, 2025
- Advance polling stations are a great way to avoid possible Voting Day lineups.
- A list of advance polling locations and operating hours are available at www.haldimandvotes.ca.
- Residents who are eligible to vote in the by-election can vote at any advance polling station, regardless of their ward.
Voting Day – Thursday, April 10, 2025
- A list of Voting Day voting locations is available at www.haldimandvotes.ca.
- All polling stations are open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
- Residents who are eligible to vote in the by-election can vote at any Voting Day voting location, regardless of their ward.
Other key details
- Residents who are unable to make it in person to vote or vote by internet may assign a proxy to vote on their behalf. Instructions and proxy assignment forms are available at www.haldimandvotes.ca.
- In order to cast a ballot, residents must provide 1 piece of identification listing their name and qualifying address (e.g: driver’s license, utility bill, mortgage statement, etc.). A list of acceptable ID is available on the County’s election website.
