Haldimand Council approves recommended penalties in Integrity Commissioner’s Report

At a Council meeting on September 22, Haldimand County Council voted to approve all penalties recommended in the Integrity Commissioner’s Report from September 8, which was prepared following a Code of Conduct complaint regarding the release of confidential information. 

By this vote, the following penalties will be imposed: 

  • That Mayor Bentley’s pay be suspended for 120 days total 

  • That Mayor Bently issue a public apology to Norfolk County Mayor Amy Martin 

As part of Council’s Code of Conduct Policy, Integrity Commissioner reports are brought to Council for formal consideration allowing members to review and vote on any recommendations. Council’s decision on the Report concludes the formal complaint process.
