Flood Watch in effect for lower Grand River watershed including Caledonia, Cayuga and Dunnville

A Flood Watch is in effect for the lower Grand River watershed, including areas of Caledonia, Cayuga and Dunnville. High water levels resulting from last week’s warm, wet weather have broken up ice sheets and increased the likelihood of flooding. Residents in areas prone to river flooding should closely monitor conditions, watch for updates and prepare accordingly.

As ice moves downstream through the Lower Grand River, it can jam up quickly and cause the river to overflow its banks. Members of the public are urged to use caution and stay away from watercourses while the Flood Watch is in effect. Parents are reminded to keep children and pets away from these areas.

Haldimand County Emergency Services and Roads Operations will be actively monitoring conditions and are ready to respond as required. Updated flood messages will be shared on the Haldimand County website and social media channels.
