Flood Warning issued for Lake Erie shoreline, areas downstream of the Dunnville Dam

A Flood Warning has been issued for areas along the Lake Erie shoreline and along the Grand River downstream of the Dunnville Dam. The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) is forecasting a rise in lake levels to above the threshold of Lake Erie Flood Zone 1

Sustained Southwesterly winds over Lake Erie with gusts up to 110 km/hr are forecast to start developing the morning of Monday, December 29, 2025 and continue into the evening.

Residents along the shoreline in Flood Zone 1 should prepare their properties for elevated water levels and strong winds, which can turn loose objects into projectiles.

During this weather event, the public should stay away from the Lake Erie shoreline and nearby watercourses due to the potential for strong waves and elevated water levels.

Haldimand County Emergency Services and Roads Operations crews will be actively monitoring conditions along the lakeshore and ready to respond as required. Any updates will be shared on the Haldimand County website and social media channels.

This flood message is in effect until 12 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 and will be updated as needed.
