Dive into summer fun at Haldimand County Public Library

Haldimand County Public Library is gearing up for an exciting summer season, offering a wide range of programs, events, and activities for children, teens, and families. This year’s summer programming invites residents to dive into exploration, creativity, and fun through stories, crafts, and interactive experiences.

“Dive In!” children’s summer programs and events

Registration for children’s summer programs opens June 9 at all six branches. Designed for children aged 3 to 12, this year’s “Dive In!” theme will take participants on an imaginative journey through ponds, lakes, rivers, and oceans, with activities including themed story times, crafts, games, and more.

Throughout July and August, each branch will also host a special guest entertainer, Club Rex, an interactive, family-friendly experience where participants can explore the world of dinosaurs, fossils, and prehistory through hands-on learning displays. Attendees will have the chance to view a variety of dinosaur fossils and get up close to pieces that are millions of years old.

Dates, times, and locations for children’s summer programs and events can be found at each library branch or on the website at haldimandlibrary.ca/summer.

Summer Reading Club and activities

The library will once again be offering free summer reading clubs for children and teens: Junior Reading Club (ages 12 and under) and Teen Reading Club (ages 13 to 18).

Participants earn ballots for every library book they read, with opportunities to win prizes through end-of-summer draws. Younger participants can also select prizes along the way as they reach reading milestones.

Additional summer-long activities include in-branch colouring contests, with details and draw dates available at each location and on the website.

Additional summer programs for youth

In addition to seasonal programming, the Library is offering structured learning opportunities for youth.

Summer Coding Club (Dunnville Branch): Youth ages 10 to 13 can learn the basics of web and game design through a free 8-week program running from July 7 to August 25. Registration opens June 22.
