County statement on community-led recreation proposal in Dunnville
Proposed Dunnville facility and related fundraising efforts are not affiliated with Haldimand County
Haldimand County appreciates the passion and dedication of Dunnville residents who continue to advocate for enhanced recreation facilities in their community. We recognize the value that such amenities bring to residents of all ages and abilities, and we thank those who have shared their ideas and vision.
As part of long-term planning, the County explored the potential for new recreation infrastructure—including an indoor pool—during the development of the Community and Recreation Facility Strategy (CRFS), which was approved by Council in December 2024. This strategy was shaped by extensive public consultation and reflects the collective priorities of our communities.
While the concept of a pool and fitness/wellness centre in Dunnville has been discussed, no formal project has been approved by Council. Additionally, the County is not involved in fundraising efforts and cannot accept donations related to this proposal. Any fundraising activities are not connected to or supported by Haldimand County.
Future decisions about major recreation investments will be guided by the County’s comprehensive long-term financial strategy, which is expected to be completed in 2026. This approach ensures that all projects are considered fairly, transparently, and with long-term financial sustainability in mind.
We encourage residents to stay informed through official County channels. If any updates or decisions are made about recreation infrastructure in Dunnville or elsewhere in Haldimand, they will be shared publicly.
Thank you for your interest in building a vibrant and healthy community.
