Closure Notice: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30)
The Haldimand County Administration Building, museums and libraries will be closed on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Garbage and recycling curbside collection will be delayed by one day starting Tuesday, September 30. Monday's collection will be unaffected.
Haldimand County recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30 as a time to reflect on the past ills done to the Indigenous community in Canada, acknowledge current barriers as a result of colonization, and identify actions to promote change.
As a corporation, Haldimand County is taking steps towards truth and reconciliation efforts & is encouraging staff to educate themselves on the history of Indigenous peoples in Canada. T
The Every Child Matters flag will be flown on the county’s community flagpole the week of September 29, and staff are encouraged to wear orange and participate in activities that explore and recognize Indigenous culture.
A number of learning resources are available on the Government of Canada website regarding Indigenous history in Canada, Indigenous culture and reconciliation.
