Bell tower restoration completed at Wilson MacDonald Memorial School Museum
We’re excited to share that the bell tower restoration project at the Wilson MacDonald Memorial School Museum in Selkirk, Ontario, has been successfully completed.
Built in 1872, the bell tower is a cherished architectural and historical feature of the museum. Over time, it had suffered age-related deterioration, prompting the need for structural repairs. Restoration efforts, completed at the end of July, focused on preserving the tower’s original design while ensuring its long-term stability.
Today, the bell tower stands proudly restored to its historical appearance—and it’s ringing once again, just as it did nearly 150 years ago.
This project reflects our ongoing commitment to preserving the heritage of rural education in Selkirk and honouring the legacy of local poet Wilson Pugsley MacDonald.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates and improvements coming to the museum this year.
