Archaeological assessment planned at Village Green Park, September 3 to 4

Residents may notice archaeologists working at Village Green Park in Cayuga on September 3 and 4, 2026.

Haldimand County has retained ASI Cultural Heritage to complete a Stage 2 Archaeological Assessment as part of planning and design work for the future Village Green Revitalization Project.

Work will involve a test pit survey, where archaeologists will hand-dig a series of small test pits throughout the park and examine the soil for evidence of Indigenous or Euro-Canadian historical artifacts. All test pit locations will be restored after the assessment is complete.

The park will remain open during the assessment, and residents are asked to use caution around active work areas.
