Archaeological assessment planned at Dunnville Lions Park, Sept 23-29

Residents may notice archaeologists working at Dunnville Lions Park, September 23 to 29, 2026.

Haldimand County has retained ASI Cultural Heritage to complete a Stage 2 Archaeological Assessment as part of planning work for the future Dunnville Lions Park Legacy Revitalization. 

Work will involve a test pit survey, where archaeologists will hand-dig a series of small test pits throughout the park and examine the soil for evidence of Indigenous or Euro-Canadian historical artifacts. All test pit locations will be restored after the assessment is complete.

The park will remain open during the assessment, and residents are asked to use caution around active work areas.
