Annual tree inventory underway across the County
From June to October, Haldimand's Urban Forestry team will be inspecting County-owned trees in:
- Caledonia (north of the Grand River)
- Rural roads in Seneca Township
This work is part of the County's Tree Inventory Update Program, which helps to keep trees healthy, identify concerns early, and plan maintenance before issues become safety hazards.
Trees requiring maintenance will be marked with green paint and added to the County's online Tree Inventory and Maintenance Map:
- Green dot = Pruning
- Green "X" = Tree removal
- Green stripe on stump = Stump grinding
The 2026 inventory update will inform the 2027 tree maintenance program. Conducting inspections a year in advance allows staff to assess and prioritize thousands of trees, coordinate work, reduce emergency response needs, and support safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance while preserving the long-term health of the urban forest.
