Annual Small Business Week Breakfast highlights strength of local entrepreneurship
On Tuesday, October 20, the Caledonia Regional Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Haldimand Business Network and Haldimand County Economic Development and Tourism, hosted the annual Small Business Week Breakfast at the Caledonia Lions Community Centre. The event's success was made possible through the support of major sponsors, including Haldimand County Pulse, Clark Agri Services, Caledonia Lions, Libro Credit Union, Pressmen’s Print and Copy Centre, Deb and Ross McKeen, and Shaver’s Flowers.
Catered by the Caledonia Lions and featuring locally made Wally Parr Sausages, the event welcomed nearly 100 small business owners, entrepreneurs, and community leaders from across Haldimand County. Attendees enjoyed the opportunity to network, share experiences, and hear from a panel of local business owners, representing Strategy Construction, Grand River Dinner Cruises, Vandehaar Flooring & Paint, and Haldimand County Pulse.
The panel discussion provided valuable insight into the realities of modern entrepreneurship, with speakers sharing lessons learned through growth, adaptation, customer service, and navigating change. Panellists spoke candidly about the opportunities and challenges they have encountered, offering practical advice and inspiration while highlighting the resilience, innovation, and determination that continue to drive Haldimand County's business community forward.
Across Canada, Small Business Week celebrates entrepreneurship and the important role small businesses play in our economy and communities. This year's national theme, "It's a two-speed world now – fast or finished," highlights the pace of change businesses face today and the importance of adaptability and innovation. That message aligned perfectly with the event's local theme, The Modern Entrepreneur, which emphasized the agility, resilience and forward-thinking mindset required to succeed in today's business environment.
The Caledonia Regional Chamber of Commerce, Haldimand Business Network, and Haldimand County Economic Development and Tourism would like to thank everyone who attended and sponsored this year's event. Details regarding the 2027 Small Business Week Breakfast will be released in Summer 2027.
