Winter Parking

Winter parking restrictions are in effect from November 15 to April 15. This helps clear the way for snowplows and sanders to properly clear the entire road surface and apply salt or sand, as required.

Additional rules

Vehicles must not block snow removal operations
Temporary "No Parking" signs may be posted to accommodate snow removal operations -- when posted, you must adhere to these signs
If your vehicle is parked in violation during snow removal, you must move it within 1 hour of work starting

Vehicles parked in violation may be towed at the owner's expense.

Penalties for violating the by-law

Parking in violation of the Winter Control Parking By-Law can result in a ticket and fine under the Provincial Offences Act, as outlined in Schedule B of the by-law. Each day a violation continues counts as a separate offence.

If you receive a ticket

If you receive a ticket for a winter parking violation, you can pay a lower fine if you make an early payment within 5 days. If your ticket is not paid within 15 days, it will incur late fees. Learn more about paying your parking ticket.
