Ontario Power Generation has announced that the Nanticoke Generating Station powerhouse (boiler house & turbine hall) will be demolished later this summer.
Nanticoke and surrounding area residents were sent notices the week of July 29, 2019 explaining that the powerhouse could be leveled as early as August 19 at 7:30a.m. Weather will determine the exact timeframe, as OPG and its demolition team want winds from the northwest to blow the dust plume towards Lake Erie.
The demolition contractor, Delsan, has a 2-week window beginning August 19 to complete the demolition. Notice will be provided by OPG 2 hours prior to the blast.
