1917 Semi-Centennial Proceeds Donated to Local Red Cross

The 1917 Dominion Day celebrations of Haldimand (for Canada’s semi-centennial) donated all proceeds to the local Red Cross in support of troops fighting in World War I. In Caledonia, the administration fee to participate in events cost 25₵ for adults and 15₵ for children. With all expenses paid, the town raised $250 to $300.

Haldimand Heritage Minutes

Background: Our Heritage Minutes were funded by Canadian Heritage and filmed/produced by Lock3 Media in Brantford. They highlight important, local stories that are historically significant – just like the iconic TV commercials that first appeared in the 1990s.Haldmand’s Heritage Minutes depict a local invention that revolutionized the world, a politician who managed to allude the law, a famous poet, a battle and more. A total of 10 Heritage Minutes will be revealed throughout 2017.
