In May 2008 Haldimand County Council passed a by-law enabling the Community Improvement Program to provide $100,000 in downtown financial incentives to property. In this plan proposed by MMM Consultants and the CIP Steering Committee, it was decided that this program would target those downtown areas that operate as crossroads/and or gateways for people traffic as well as have a significant view of the Grand River.
Property owners and tenants located in the CIP area are invited to submit their application until each year’s funding is exhausted. There is still funding available from the CIP Reserve.
This program will be interest to property owners and small business operators in Haldimand County’s downtown areas as well as real estate agents and small business banking officers.

Steps to Apply to the Program:
- Confirm with Haldimand County staff that your property is in the CIP area, see maps below.
- Download the application form, CIP Application or pick one up any Haldimand County offices.
- Upon hearing that your application has been approved, and contracts are in place, do the work, making sure to keep all receipts for materials and supplies.
We’ll confirm the details, and provide funds to cover (part or all)of the costs of your supplies.

Did you know?
Those properties where improvements are being made to waterfront facades or facades with signficant public view, and are located adjacent to, or are clearly visible from the Grand River, the maximum grant amount could increase from $10,000 to $15,000.

If you want to apply to this program to repaint your storefront and you want to do the work yourself this program could cover part of the material costs, such as: preparation materials (sandpaper, caulking, etc.) paint, brushes, etc.
